What is a single tooth implant?
When a single tooth is lost one of the treatment options is replacement with a single implant supported crown. The titanium Implant acts as the tooth root which is placed into the jaw bone. Following a healing period of 3 months, a final porcelain crown is attached to the titanium implant. For front teeth, a temporary partial denture or crown is made for use during the implant healing period. The implant supported crown is self-supporting and gives a result which is natural in appearance and long lasting.
Implant dentistry is not an “off the shelf” solution but is instead tailored to each and every patient. Costs will vary depending on factors such as complexity of surgery (1 stage or 2 stages required) and also whether other procedures such as bone or soft tissue grafting are required. The choice of having a temporary crown or denture during the healing period will also vary the cost of treatment.
