All our restorative work is done with a tooth-coloured filling material — Dr David Porzig does not work with amalgam (silver-coloured) filling materials. Three main materials may be used depending on the size, location and strength requirements of the restoration. These materials are:
- Composite Resin — this restorative material is a mix of acrylic and glass particles. It blends seamlessly with your natural tooth and provides a strong replacement option with minimal tooth reduction. Perfect for small to moderate restorations and minimally invasive veneers.
- Glass Ionomer — again a blend of acrylic and glass, this material however releases fluoride to help combat recurrent decay. Good shade matches can be achieved however it isn’t as strong as the other restorative materials used. Therefore, glass ionomer is perfect for deciduous (children’s) teeth, non-chewing surfaces or patients battling with recurrent decay or oral health challenges.
- Ceramic — all our ceramic work is locally made in Perth at a lab which we have partnered with for over 10 years. Specialised ceramicists finesse each individual piece to ensure a near perfect colour match. Dental ceramic is highly stain resistant and very strong. Perfect for large restorations or cosmetic cases.
