When a single tooth is lost one of the treatment options is replacement with a single implant supported crown. The titanium Implant acts as the tooth root which is placed into the jaw bone. Following a healing period of 3 months, a final porcelain crown is attached to the titanium implant. For front teeth, a temporary partial denture or crown is made for use during the implant healing period. The implant supported crown is self-supporting and gives a result which is natural in appearance and long lasting.
When two or more teeth are missing, multiple implants can be used to support a porcelain bridge. This eliminates the need for wearing a removable partial denture or have the adjacent teeth prepared for a tooth supported bridge.
